So Your Trip to Europe Got Cancelled by a Global Pandemic
One of the tenets of budget travel that I preach to anyone who will listen is flexibility. BE FLEXIBLE! Clinging to your ideal trip when all the fates conspire against you will leave you frustrated, disappointed, and usually looking at your wallet wondering where your budget went.
This is a hard pill for me to swallow since I am also a planner. I love to plan, in meticulous detail, so when a plan falls apart, there’s a definite sense of loss. This might be why it took me so long to accept the reality that Jared and I would not be making our first trip to Europe together this year. Unfortunately, with all the uncertainty with COVID-19 and our personal financial situation, it has become more and more evident that it just isn’t an option right now. And you know what?
THAT’S OK!
There is an entire country of adventure right here in the United States that we have yet to explore. I hope you’ll indulge me as this blog takes a little detour over the next few weeks. Instead of budget European travel, we’re going to go even more bare bones: camping our way through several of the National Parks.
Images taken from Google Images - hoping to have my own soon!
Reopening plans for the National Parks are still being released, so we don’t have a firm itinerary, something I’m totally fine with and definitely not stressing about at all.
But even though we don’t know where we’ll be sleeping each night… *deep breath*… I know it’s going to be an incredible trip! I hope our travels will inspire you to look for the adventures in your own backyard. If we take precautions and are responsible, we don’t have to wait for COVID to end to start exploring!
